Let's talk about Debt- Pacific debt sustainability in the face of COVID and Climate Change
Nearly all FICs experience challenges related to debt brought on by the contraction in economic activities from the COVID-19 pandemic, the impacts of climate change vulnerability risks and disasters.

The theme is set against the backdrop of recent Debt Sustainability Assessments by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Bank, which placed nearly all Forum Island Countries (FICs) at a high levels of debt distress due to the impact of COVID-19 on revenue contraction, elevated fiscal deficits, leading to increased pressure on borrowing, that is exacerbated by climate-related risks.

The webinar will focus on:
• Discussion on measures to address the high debt distress levels in FICs as highlighted by the Debt Sustainability Assessments of the IMF and World Bank;
• Regional and national perspectives on debt and
• Reflections on debt and the future wellbeing of the FICs from the Private sector and Civil Society Organisation (CSO) perspectives.

Join us for this discussion and a Q&A with the Panelists.
